Historical overview
364-day WordPress.org historyQuick take
BlogVault is a managed WordPress backup service for sites that want backups, restores, migrations, and staging handled through an external cloud platform rather than through backup archives stored only on the WordPress server. Its strongest fit is a business-critical site where restore reliability and low server load matter more than minimizing subscription cost.
Best fit: Business sites, stores, agencies, and multisite owners that want managed off-site backups with one-click restore, migration, and staging.
Free version: No permanent free plan. A trial is available.
Paid pricing: Personal starts at $99/year for one site. Business is $299/year for one site. The WooCommerce plan with real-time backups is $499/year for one site.
Operating model: Incremental backups are processed and stored in BlogVault cloud infrastructure.
How BlogVault handles backups
BlogVault connects the WordPress site to its hosted backup platform. After the initial sync, its backup system works incrementally so later backups focus on changed data instead of rebuilding a full archive every time. That model reduces the amount of backup work performed directly on the production server.
The current Personal plan runs automatic daily backups, keeps 30 days of retention, and supports sites up to 20 GB. Business increases backup frequency to twice daily, expands retention, and supports larger sites. The WooCommerce plan adds real-time backups so orders and other important changes can be captured much more frequently.
Restore and disaster recovery
The buying decision is not only about creating backups. BlogVault also includes one-click restore, cloud-stored backup copies, and an emergency connector for recovery scenarios. The service is designed so a backup can still be used when the main WordPress dashboard is unavailable.
BlogVault states that backup copies are encrypted and stored on its infrastructure in the EU. This means you do not need to configure a separate Google Drive, Dropbox, or S3 account just to get backups off the web server.
Staging and migration are part of the platform
BlogVault includes one-click staging and site migration alongside backup. That matters for teams that want one recovery platform rather than separate plugins for backup, staging, and moving sites between hosts.
The staging environment is useful for testing plugin, theme, or WordPress updates before they reach production. Migration is included across the current paid plans, so a backup workflow can also become the source for moving a site to another server or domain.
WooCommerce and multisite considerations
The main plan boundary is real-time backup. Personal and Business use scheduled backup intervals, while the WooCommerce plan is the tier built around real-time change capture and a 365-day backup history. That makes the upgrade relevant for stores where losing several hours of orders would be unacceptable.
Multisite support is also plan-dependent. The current Business plan supports multisite networks up to 25 subsites, while the WooCommerce tier increases that limit to 100 subsites. If a network is larger or structurally unusual, verify the exact restore and migration workflow before committing.
Pricing and the cost model
Pricing checked: September 24, 2026. Personal is $99/year for one site or $299/year for five sites. Business is $299/year for one site or $899/year for five. The WooCommerce plan is $499/year for one site or $1,499/year for five sites. Agency pricing is available separately for larger portfolios.
The cost is higher than many plugin-only backup tools because storage, incremental processing, restore infrastructure, staging, and migration are bundled into the hosted service. The key question is whether that managed layer replaces enough separate tools and operational work to justify the per-site subscription.
Trade-offs to check before buying
BlogVault creates a dependency on an external backup platform. You are paying for the hosted service, not just a WordPress plugin license. If you prefer to keep backup files in your own S3, Dropbox, Google Drive, or other storage account, a user-controlled backup plugin can fit better.
Real-time backups are also not included at the entry level. A low-change brochure site may not need them, but a WooCommerce or membership site should compare the cost of the real-time tier against alternatives that offer continuous or near-continuous backups under a different pricing model.
PluginSuggest verdict
BlogVault makes the most sense when backup is treated as managed infrastructure rather than a scheduled ZIP file. Its pricing is easier to justify on sites where fast recovery, staging, migration, and real-time store protection have direct business value. For simpler sites, the per-site subscription can be more than is necessary.
