- Pretty Links alternatives FAQs
PrettyLinks is a mature WordPress link-management plugin for turning long affiliate and campaign URLs into branded links on your own domain. It combines redirects, click tracking, link organization and paid automation such as keyword replacement, split testing and conditional redirects. The main reason to compare alternatives is not that the core job has changed. It is that the surrounding workflow, pricing structure and feature priorities can differ significantly between link managers.
The four options below all keep the link-management workflow close to WordPress, but they approach it differently. ThirstyAffiliates is strongly affiliate-focused. BetterLinks expands into analytics, A/B redirects, custom domains and AI/MCP tooling. URL Shortify combines self-hosted short links with QR codes, campaign routing and an API. Easy Affiliate Links stays intentionally simpler and inexpensive.
Pretty Links alternatives at a glance
Why consider an alternative to PrettyLinks?
PrettyLinks has a useful free plugin, while its current paid plans are tiered by both sites and features. Beginner is promoted at $99.60 for the first year for one site, Marketer at $149.60 for two sites and Super Affiliate at $199.60 for five sites. The vendor states that annual renewals return to the full listed price, currently $249, $374 and $499 respectively.
That matters because several capabilities are tied to higher tiers. Beginner includes advanced redirect types, automatic link creation and import/export. Marketer adds features such as automatic keyword linking, split testing, advanced conversion reporting and automatic affiliate disclosures. Super Affiliate adds more tools and add-ons, including product displays, splash pages, UTM Builder, User Links and QR-code generation.
A site may therefore look elsewhere for one of four reasons: it wants a lower long-term renewal cost, a lifetime license, a stronger affiliate-specific workflow, or advanced campaign tools without moving to a higher PrettyLinks tier. A smaller publisher may simply want less software around the core link-library job.
Pricing checked: September 24, 2026
PrettyLinks Beginner is currently $99.60 for the first year and renews at $249/year for one site. ThirstyAffiliates Basic follows the same $99.60 introductory and $249 renewal structure for one site. BetterLinks Individual is currently promoted at $79/year for one site, with an unlimited-site lifetime Agency option promoted at $279. URL Shortify starts with a free edition and currently lists Pro Starter at $99/year for one site, with annual and lifetime licensing. Easy Affiliate Links Premium is $29/year for one live site, with a 20-site license at $119/year.
Those prices are not feature-equivalent. Compare the tier that contains the redirects, automation, analytics, site count, migration tools and affiliate-specific controls your workflow actually requires.
ThirstyAffiliates for an affiliate-first workflow
ThirstyAffiliates overlaps closely with PrettyLinks because both are built around branded affiliate URLs, redirect management and click tracking. The distinction is emphasis. ThirstyAffiliates organizes much of its product language and Pro feature set around affiliate-publisher operations rather than general-purpose campaign links.
The free plugin handles core link management and cloaking. Paid plans add automatic keyword linking, Amazon API importing, geographic redirects, CSV import/export, automatic affiliate disclosures, link scheduling, advanced statistics, 404 checking and product-display capabilities on the relevant plans. Smart uncloaking is also important for programs where a merchant requires the original destination to remain visible.
Its Basic plan is currently $99.60 for the first year and renews at $249/year for one site. Plus covers five sites and Advanced ten. The pricing is therefore not automatically cheaper than PrettyLinks. The reason to switch would be workflow fit rather than the first-year sticker price.
Migration implication: map every PrettyLinks slug, destination, category/tag structure and redirect type before importing. If PrettyLinks currently auto-links keywords or replaces URLs inside content, recreate those rules separately. For Amazon or other programs with cloaking restrictions, validate the final public URL before turning off the old plugin.
BetterLinks when analytics and redirect experiments matter
BetterLinks covers the same basic short-link and affiliate-link jobs, then extends further into campaign operations. Its current Pro feature set includes split testing, individual link analytics, Google Analytics tracking, Facebook Pixel tracking, a full-site link scanner, broken-link checking, custom branded domains, UTM tooling, password-protected links and automated link creation.
It also now includes AI Bulk Link Generator, AI Link Assistant and MCP support. Those features change the administration model more than the redirect itself. They are relevant for teams managing large link inventories or automating link operations with AI clients, but they add little value if a site only needs a handful of affiliate redirects.
The Individual plan is currently promoted at $79/year for one site. Business covers unlimited sites on an annual license, while the Agency lifetime plan is currently promoted at $279 for unlimited sites. That lifetime option changes the multi-year cost comparison for agencies and site portfolios.
BetterLinks also advertises one-click migration from other link plugins. Treat migration as a starting point rather than a final QA step. Check parameter forwarding, sponsored/nofollow attributes, expiration rules, analytics filters and any links referenced outside WordPress, such as podcast show notes, PDFs, social bios or email sequences.
URL Shortify for campaign routing, QR codes and API workflows
URL Shortify starts as a straightforward self-hosted URL shortener. The free edition supports unlimited short links, 301/302/307 redirects, custom slugs, parameter forwarding, grouping and basic click analytics. It also provides import tooling for users moving from other WordPress link managers.
Pro adds a wider campaign toolkit: detailed click reporting, QR-code generation, password and expiration rules, A/B and rotated links, traffic routing, retargeting pixels, UTM presets, custom domains, splash pages, broken-link checking, bulk generation and export. Its REST API also makes it relevant for sites that need to create or manage links programmatically.
Starter is currently $99/year for one site, Growth $149/year for three sites and Scale $299/year for 25 sites. The vendor also offers lifetime licensing, and states that paid plans unlock the same feature set while site allowances change.
The practical question is whether those campaign controls are actually part of the workflow. A publisher generating print QR codes, rotating destinations or creating links from another system can use them directly. A blog whose only requirement is /go/product plus a click count may not benefit from the extra configuration.
Easy Affiliate Links for a focused link library
Easy Affiliate Links is the deliberately narrower option in this comparison. The free plugin stores affiliate links centrally, inserts them through the WordPress editor, supports categories, optional branded short URLs, sponsored/UGC attributes, disclosure text, monthly and lifetime click counts, and CSV/XML import and export.
Premium costs $29/year for one live site. It adds deeper click statistics, Amazon Creators API integration, broken-link email alerts, country/device conditional links, tooltip disclosures and Replacement Links. Replacement Links are useful when a temporary promotion needs to take over an existing affiliate URL without permanently overwriting its normal destination.
This lower price comes with a smaller ambition. Easy Affiliate Links is not trying to be an A/B redirect platform, QR campaign system or AI-assisted link-management layer. For an editorial site that mainly wants one source of truth for affiliate URLs, that narrower scope can be an advantage.
Migration implication: use CSV/XML export where practical, but separately document intentional uncloaked links, rel attributes, disclosures and merchant-specific rules. Historical click data may need to remain in the old export because reporting schemas differ between plugins.
Affiliate link management vs general campaign links
The category becomes easier to compare when you separate affiliate operations from broader campaign-link operations. Affiliate-focused workflows care about disclosures, Amazon or merchant cloaking rules, product imports, categories, geo destinations and the ability to update one merchant URL everywhere it appears. Campaign workflows add A/B redirects, QR codes, custom domains, UTM standards, retargeting pixels, expiry dates and route logic.
PrettyLinks spans both categories, especially on higher paid tiers. ThirstyAffiliates leans more heavily toward affiliate publishing. BetterLinks and URL Shortify extend further into campaign tooling. Easy Affiliate Links stays closer to a publisher’s central affiliate-link library.
That distinction also affects how much configuration needs to be maintained. Every conditional redirect, scheduled campaign, split test and geo rule is another behavior that should be documented and tested. More features are useful only when they replace real manual work.
Compare three-year cost, not only the first checkout
Introductory pricing can make two products look nearly identical in year one and very different after renewal. PrettyLinks Beginner and ThirstyAffiliates Basic are both currently promoted at $99.60 for the first year, but each lists a $249 annual renewal. BetterLinks uses a lower current one-site promotional price and also sells a lifetime agency license. URL Shortify offers both annual and lifetime licenses. Easy Affiliate Links keeps the paid layer much smaller at $29/year for one site.
The correct comparison still depends on features. A $29 link library is not a substitute for split testing, geographic routing or an automated keyword system if those functions already save hours every month. Likewise, paying for a large campaign toolkit makes little sense when the site’s only recurring task is updating merchant destinations and checking a few click totals.
Redirect ownership and performance deserve separate QA
All five products in this comparison keep the public short-link experience under a WordPress-controlled domain, but the internal storage and redirect code differ. That matters when a site uses full-page caching, edge caching, security rules or unusual permalink structures. Test redirects as a logged-out visitor and from a private browser session so administrator bypass rules do not hide a problem.
For high-traffic affiliate sites, also watch the first day of production logs after switching. A redirect loop, missing query string or stale cached destination can affect thousands of clicks before an editor notices it. Link migrations should therefore be treated like infrastructure changes, with a sample list, a rollback path and monitoring, not just a content import.
What to check before switching from PrettyLinks
- Public slugs: preserve every externally shared branded URL. Changing
/go/toolto a new slug can break links in email, video descriptions, social posts and printed material. - Destination URLs: export current destinations and query parameters before touching the old plugin.
- Redirect types: record 301, 302, 307, cloaked, JavaScript, meta-refresh or other redirect behaviors that need an equivalent.
- Rel attributes: preserve nofollow, sponsored and other link-level attributes used for affiliate or SEO policies.
- Keyword automation: document auto-link keywords, URL replacement rules and exclusions so content does not suddenly lose monetized links.
- Conditional routing: map geography, device, time, rotation, split-test, expiry and parameter-forwarding logic.
- Disclosures: check whether disclosure text is generated by the plugin, the theme or editorial content before removing anything.
- Analytics: export click reports that matter for historical campaign comparisons. A new plugin normally starts a new analytics baseline.
- External placements: create a test list of high-value links used outside WordPress and verify each one after cutover.
- Rollback: keep a database backup and the previous plugin files available until the new redirect table has been tested with caching, CDN and security layers enabled.
When staying with PrettyLinks makes sense
Staying with PrettyLinks is reasonable when the current public slugs are stable, the team already relies on its automation or reporting, and renewal cost is acceptable. Link-management migrations carry unusual risk because branded URLs often live far beyond the WordPress database. A broken short link in an old podcast episode or email sequence may be difficult to discover quickly.
The higher PrettyLinks tiers also combine several functions that would otherwise need to be rebuilt: keyword auto-linking, split tests, conversion reporting, conditional redirects, disclosures and add-ons. If those are already configured and generating revenue, the operational cost of reimplementing them can exceed the license savings.
Pretty Links alternatives FAQs
Is there a free alternative to Pretty Links?
Yes. ThirstyAffiliates, BetterLinks, URL Shortify and Easy Affiliate Links all have free WordPress versions. Their free feature boundaries differ, especially for analytics, automation, advanced redirects and broken-link monitoring.
Can I migrate PrettyLinks without changing my public short URLs?
Usually, but only if the replacement plugin can use the same slug structure and there are no route conflicts. Test high-value public URLs before deactivating PrettyLinks because links may exist outside your website.
Which alternatives support affiliate link cloaking?
All four options in this comparison can manage branded or cloaked affiliate URLs in some form. Merchant and network rules still apply, so links that must remain transparent should stay uncloaked.
Which options have lifetime licensing?
BetterLinks currently offers an unlimited-site lifetime Agency plan, and URL Shortify offers lifetime options by site allowance. ThirstyAffiliates, PrettyLinks and Easy Affiliate Links use annual licensing for their paid plans.
Will my PrettyLinks click history move to another plugin?
Do not assume it will. Export historical reports before migration. Link records are easier to migrate than analytics because products store click details, bot filters and dimensions differently.
Can PrettyLinks and a replacement run at the same time?
They can coexist briefly for a controlled migration, but two plugins must not claim the same public slug or redirect prefix. Test on staging first and define which plugin owns each redirect during the cutover.
