Quick take: Spectra Blocks is Brainstorm Force’s current Gutenberg-first site-building plugin. It works inside the native WordPress Block Editor rather than replacing it with a separate canvas, and it focuses on flexible layout blocks, global styles, patterns, popups, dynamic content, and optional AI-assisted generation through Zip AI.

What Spectra Blocks is now

Spectra Blocks is a separate product from Spectra Legacy. Brainstorm Force launched the rebuilt plugin in 2026 on modern WordPress core block APIs. Existing Spectra Legacy sites can keep the older plugin active, while new projects are directed toward Spectra Blocks. The two plugins can run side by side during a transition.

Native block-editor workflow

Spectra Blocks stays inside Gutenberg. Its Container block handles flexbox and grid layouts, while focused content blocks cover text, buttons, tabs, accordions, sliders, posts, maps, countdowns, counters, modals, and popups. Extensions add spacing, borders, shadows, responsive controls, and other design settings to Spectra and core WordPress blocks.

Dynamic content and structured sites

Spectra Pro can pull dynamic values from WordPress content, custom fields, users, taxonomies, request parameters, and supported custom-field tools including ACF, Meta Box, and Pods. That makes it useful for blog templates, listings, product information, author data, and other sites where content should update from structured data rather than being typed repeatedly.

Patterns, global styles, and AI

The Design Library provides reusable patterns and page sections built with Spectra blocks. Global Styles centralize colors, typography, and spacing. Zip AI is a separate companion service that can generate full pages, sections, rewritten copy, and HTML-to-block conversions. AI usage requires a ZipWP account and uses credits, including for Spectra Pro users.

WooCommerce and plugin compatibility

Spectra Blocks is designed to work with WooCommerce and common WordPress plugins rather than replacing their business logic. It is also positioned as compatible with SureCart, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, LearnDash, Tutor LMS, MemberPress, Easy Digital Downloads, and other popular plugins.

Free vs Pro

The core Spectra Blocks plugin, its blocks, and its Extensions are free. Spectra Pro adds premium capabilities and is currently sold from $69 per year for up to three websites, with a $319 one-time option shown on the official pricing page. Existing plans that include Spectra Pro also include Spectra Blocks Pro without an additional purchase.

Who it fits

Spectra Blocks fits Gutenberg-first site owners, agencies, and content teams that want more layout and design control without adopting a separate page-builder interface. It is less suitable when a team specifically wants a mature standalone visual-builder ecosystem with its own canvas, extensive third-party add-ons, or a workflow that is intentionally independent from the native block editor.

Migration from Spectra Legacy

Legacy content is not automatically converted into the new Spectra Blocks system. Global colors, typography, default block settings, and custom CSS are not shared between the two plugins. Existing Legacy pages can remain intact while new pages are rebuilt in Spectra Blocks, and the older plugin should stay active until no page depends on its blocks.

What to evaluate before choosing Spectra Blocks

The key decision is whether you want WordPress itself to remain the primary editing system. Spectra Blocks is strongest when Gutenberg portability, native block markup, theme compatibility, and a smaller block vocabulary matter more than having a completely separate design canvas. For agencies, test the full workflow on a representative client site: global styles, responsive controls, reusable patterns, custom fields, popups, WooCommerce pages, editor permissions, and any AI-assisted generation you expect the team to use.

Also separate Spectra Blocks from the surrounding Brainstorm Force ecosystem when calculating cost. Astra, SureForms, Zip AI, and the larger toolkits can complement Spectra, but they are not automatically required for every build. Price the exact stack you plan to maintain, including AI credits if AI generation will be part of the normal production workflow. That gives a more useful comparison than treating every bundled product as necessary.

Pricing

Pricing checked: September 23, 2026. Spectra Blocks core is free. Spectra Pro is $69 per year for up to three sites and is currently shown at $319 one-time on the official pricing page. Larger Essential and Business toolkits bundle Spectra Pro with other Brainstorm Force products and have separate site limits and renewal pricing.
