Plugin Health & Stats
Historical overview
364-day WordPress.org historyQuick take
Rank Math SEO is a strong fit when you want a broad technical SEO toolkit inside one WordPress plugin and prefer turning individual modules on or off as the site needs them. The free version already includes content analysis, schema, XML sitemaps, redirections, a 404 monitor, internal-link suggestions, role controls, breadcrumbs, image SEO, and integrations with major page builders and eCommerce setups.
I would choose PRO when the site needs rank tracking, deeper Analytics and Search Console reporting, advanced schema generation, AI Link Genius, bulk SEO automation, advanced WooCommerce controls, or agency-oriented reporting. The important pricing detail is that Content AI is a separate product, not part of the Rank Math PRO subscription.
Best fit: Rank Math SEO makes the most sense for WordPress users who want a modular SEO suite with broad technical controls and a feature-rich free tier. A different tool will usually make more sense for users who prefer a simpler guided interface or expect client-site licensing and Content AI to be fully included in the personal PRO price.
Why Rank Math appeals to technical WordPress users
SEO plugins can become crowded because the job covers many unrelated systems: metadata, schema, sitemaps, indexing, redirects, broken URLs, images, local SEO, WooCommerce, analytics, and editorial optimization. Rank Math addresses that by separating functionality into modules so a site can enable only the parts it intends to use.
That makes the plugin especially appealing when you want one SEO control center but do not want every feature active on every site.
What the free plugin already gives you
On-page analysis with multiple SEO checks
Rank Math provides detailed content analysis and a large set of SEO tests in the editor. The recommendations cover focus keywords, metadata, links, content structure, and other on-page signals. As with any SEO score, I would use the checks as a quality-control system rather than a direct prediction of rankings.
Schema and XML sitemaps
The free plugin generates schema and automated XML sitemaps, while paid tiers add a more advanced schema generator, templates, conditional schema, and other automation. For many normal posts, pages, products, and local-business setups, the free schema layer already handles the common cases.
Redirections and 404 monitoring
One practical difference from some competitors is that Rank Math includes a redirection manager and 404 monitor in the free plugin. This lets a site catch broken URLs and create redirects without adding a separate redirect plugin for basic workflows.
Role controls, breadcrumbs, and image SEO
Role Manager controls which Rank Math features different users can access. Breadcrumbs, automatic image ALT/title handling, local SEO tools, and integrations with WooCommerce, Elementor, Divi, and several other WordPress systems extend the plugin beyond simple metadata editing.
Import paths from other SEO plugins
Rank Math can import SEO data from Yoast SEO, All in One SEO, SEOPress, and several other plugins. That matters because switching SEO plugins is not only about changing settings. Existing titles, descriptions, schema choices, and redirects need a migration path.
What changed in the current release
Rank Math 1.0.278, released September 8, 2026, added MCP tools that let compatible AI assistants connect through OAuth and added MCP access for redirections, robots.txt, and LLMs.txt data. It also expanded Content AI behavior in the editor.
I would treat those MCP features as an administration and automation layer, not as a replacement for the normal SEO interface. They are useful when a team wants AI tools to read or work with SEO configuration through approved connections.
Where PRO becomes useful
Rank tracking and deeper performance reporting
PRO adds keyword rank tracking and deeper Google Analytics, AdSense, and Search Console reporting, including post-level performance and position history. The PRO plan currently tracks 500 keywords, while Business and Agency raise the limits substantially.
Advanced schema and SEO automation
Paid plans add a more flexible schema generator, schema import, templates, conditional schema, advanced image automation, bulk SEO actions, video schema automation, and other technical controls.
AI Link Genius and broken-link workflows
The current paid feature set includes AI Link Genius, automated keyword linking, link audits, and a broken-link checker. This is most relevant for larger content libraries where internal linking becomes an ongoing maintenance task rather than something handled only when a new post is written.
WooCommerce and agency features
PRO adds more WooCommerce SEO controls. Business and Agency plans expand client website allowances, keyword tracking limits, historical data, client management, and reporting features for service providers.
Content AI is a separate buying decision
This is easy to misunderstand because Content AI is built into the Rank Math interface. It does not require a separate WordPress plugin, but it is not included as an unlimited feature of Rank Math PRO.
A dedicated Content AI subscription has its own usage limits. New PRO, Business, and Agency memberships receive a 15-day trial tied to the corresponding Content AI plan, and paid-plugin users also receive limited monthly complimentary usage. Content AI can also be purchased and used with Rank Math Free.
Rank Math vs Yoast, AIOSEO, and SEOPress
Yoast SEO is more opinionated around editorial guidance and readability, while Rank Math exposes more technical modules in its free version. Yoast Premium currently uses per-site licensing; Rank Math PRO covers unlimited personal sites but excludes client sites.
All in One SEO and SEOPress also cover full-site SEO. The better choice depends on which features must be free, how many sites you manage, whether client licensing matters, and which interface your team is more comfortable using.
Where the trade-offs show up
The breadth of Rank Math is an advantage until it becomes configuration overhead. A site that enables every module without a clear need can create more settings, reports, and automation than the team will actually maintain.
Pricing also needs to be read carefully. PRO is for personal websites you own completely. Client websites require Business or Agency. The current promotional PRO price renews at the higher regular rate, and taxes are additional.
Content AI is another separate cost layer. It is integrated into the plugin but operates as its own subscription and usage system, so I would price it independently if AI-assisted research and generation are part of the workflow.
Rank Math pricing
Pricing checked September 9, 2026. Rank Math Free is available on WordPress.org. The official pricing page currently shows Rank Math PRO at a promotional €7.99 per month billed annually, excluding VAT, with renewal at €8.99 per month billed annually. PRO supports unlimited personal websites and tracks up to 500 keywords.
Business and Agency plans are designed for client sites and higher tracking limits. Content AI is a separate subscription, although new paid-plugin memberships receive a 15-day trial and paid users receive limited complimentary monthly usage.
PluginSuggest verdict
Rank Math is one of the easier SEO plugins to justify when you want a broad free toolkit and expect the site to grow into more technical SEO work. Redirects, 404 monitoring, schema, sitemaps, content analysis, and modular controls cover a large part of day-to-day WordPress SEO before an upgrade is required.
I would shortlist PRO for users who need rank tracking, deeper analytics, advanced schema, linking automation, or multi-site personal licensing. I would keep Content AI as a separate budget decision rather than treating it as part of the core PRO price.
