Uncanny Automator
Plugin Health & Stats
Historical overview
364-day WordPress.org historyQuick take
Uncanny Automator has become more than a trigger-and-action plugin. The current product combines a WordPress-native recipe builder with Uncanny Agent for AI-assisted site work and an AI-driven page builder, while keeping recurring automation recipes as a core part of the platform.
I would shortlist it for WooCommerce, LMS, membership, marketing, and operations sites that need deeper plugin-to-plugin automation and also see value in an AI assistant that can act on WordPress. I would keep it simpler if your requirement is only one or two basic data transfers and you do not need the AI or advanced recipe layer.
Best fit: Uncanny Automator makes the most sense for WordPress eCommerce, LMS, membership, marketing, and agency sites needing deep automation plus AI-assisted site operations. I would look elsewhere for sites that only need one or two simple data transfers and do not need AI or a large recipe library.
What Uncanny Automator now includes
The Recipe Builder is still the automation foundation. A recipe listens for one or more triggers and runs actions when its conditions are met. That can mean enrolling a WooCommerce customer into a course, pushing form submissions to Google Sheets, updating CRM data, sending webhooks, or coordinating activity across WordPress plugins.
The newer layer is Uncanny Agent. It can answer questions about the site, perform supported actions, build or update content, and work across integrations without requiring every ad-hoc task to be prebuilt as a recipe. Uncanny Page Builder then uses that Agent layer to create and revise pages conversationally.
I see these as different jobs rather than one feature list: recipes handle repeatable business logic, while Agent handles interactive work and page-building requests.
Features that matter in an Uncanny Automator workflow
- Unlimited plugin-to-plugin automations in Free: the free plugin does not meter local WordPress recipe executions.
- External app credits: Free includes 250 credits for supported external app triggers/actions such as Google Sheets, Slack or Mailchimp.
- Multi-step recipes: paid capabilities expand the trigger/action/token library and advanced recipe controls.
- Uncanny Agent: included starter AI usage lets you interact with the site without bringing a separate API key.
- AI Page Builder: pages can be created conversationally through Agent, with free usage available for trying the workflow.
- Own-provider AI inside recipes: recipe integrations can also connect services such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini when a workflow specifically needs those providers.
- WordPress-native integration depth: the plugin targets eCommerce, LMS, membership, forms, CRM and other WordPress events directly.
Uncanny Automator Free vs paid
Uncanny Automator Free vs paid is not simply a recipe-count upgrade. Free includes unlimited plugin-to-plugin recipes, hundreds of free triggers/actions, starter Agent usage, a chance to try AI page building, and 250 credits for supported external app activity.
The current AI + Automation paid plans add the complete Pro trigger/action/token library, larger Agent usage allowances, premium support and broader site licensing. The paid pricing page also states that recipes, app credits and data retention are unlimited inside the paid automation plans, while Agent usage is governed by the allowance attached to the selected tier.
That means a site automating only local WordPress plugins can stay free much longer than a site that depends heavily on premium triggers, advanced tokens, external apps, or daily AI-agent work.
Where the trade-offs show up
The current pricing model is materially different from older Automator pricing because AI usage is now part of the package. You should therefore evaluate the license against both automation requirements and Agent usage rather than comparing only how many recipes you can create.
For critical business workflows, I would also keep the distinction between local plugin-to-plugin actions and account-dependent services in mind. The plugin can automate locally, but Agent usage and supported external services involve Uncanny account infrastructure.
Uncanny Automator pricing
Pricing checked September 9, 2026. Current AI + Automation plans are:
- Basic: $25/month billed annually at $300 for 1 site.
- Plus: $40/month billed annually at $480 for 10 sites and multisite.
- Elite: $60/month billed annually at $720 for 50 sites and multisite.
Every paid AI + Automation plan includes the recipe builder, Agent usage and page-building capability. The higher tiers increase sites and Agent usage. The free version remains available, so I would validate the actual triggers and actions you need before paying.
PluginSuggest verdict
My Uncanny Automator review conclusion is that it now makes the most sense as a combined WordPress automation and AI-operations platform, not merely as a Zapier substitute. The free local automation allowance is still strong, while paid plans are better justified when premium recipes and Agent usage become part of daily operations.
If you only need basic data forwarding, this can be more platform than necessary. If you run an eCommerce, LMS, membership or agency workflow where WordPress events need to trigger repeatable actions across many systems, it belongs on the shortlist.
